Our History
The Marge E. Hudak Bailey Community Swimming Pool is a community aquatic facility located in Bailey, Colorado, and operated in connection with the Platte Canyon School District. It was developed to serve both students and the broader mountain community, providing access to swimming lessons, recreation, and fitness in an area with limited indoor recreational facilities.

The pool is named after Marge E. Hudak, one of the first mangers of the pool who dedicated herself to keeping the pool operational during challenging times until her passing in 1987, after which the pool was named in her honor in 1988. Despite budget constraints leading to closures in 1980-1981 and 1986-1987, the Friends of the Pool Inc. was established in 1981 to support the pool's continued operation, reflecting the region’s tradition of honoring individuals who contributed to youth programs and community development.
Over time, the facility has expanded beyond a simple school pool into a key community hub, offering public swim programs, classes, and events.

In recent years, we have continued to evolve—for example, a public fitness room was added and opened in 2019, further strengthening our role as a year-round wellness center for Bailey residents.

Today, the pool remains an important asset to the community, supported in part by local groups like the Friends of the Pool, who help fund programs, maintain equipment, and promote access to swimming for all ages.

New management beginning in 2025 has quickly elevated the pool experience with additional programs and events including , the Bailey Barracudas Swim Team, Hydro Fit Classes, Glow in the Dark Night, and Ghouls at the Pool Halloween Bash. We look forward to sharing the rest of our journey with you!
